When I walked into Flow last November for my son to start Mondo’s Kids Boot camp, I had no idea how that night would change my life in such positive ways. I had struggled with my weight for the past 3 years following the birth of my 3rd child. I wanted so bad to feel good about myself, but as I put on the pounds, I felt worse and worse. I would try diets and walking over the 3 years, but I had no motivation and no one pushing me to keep going. I had all but given up hope on ever getting my figure to where I was happy with it. That night at Flow I started looking around at what exactly they offered and I started asking questions about it. The next thing I knew, I had been talked into coming to Mondo’s boot camp the following morning at 6 am. Walking into class that morning, I felt so welcome that it put me right at ease and made most of my nervousness go away. If I had questions or didn’t understand something, everyone was more than happy to help me. The first few weeks were very tough on me physically, but Mondo would not let me give up. I kept with it and my body started adjusting, and so did my mind. After a couple of months and my second assessment, I wanted more than the two days of boot camp. I started doing personal training and really worked on eating healthy and drinking a lot of water. That’s when I really started seeing a difference in myself. I was feeling so much better physically, people were complimenting me, and I started feeling better emotionally. The day my teenage daughter discovered that my new clothes were the same size as hers was a tremendous milestone for me. Since November, I have gone from a size 12 down to a size 4, doing 19 sit-ups in 2 minutes to doing 67 now. I am finally wearing a bikini after all these years, and I don’t feel embarrassed when I put it on. I cannot put into words how appreciative I am of Mondo’s continued encouragement for me to push myself and how much of a difference his support and motivation has made in my life. There were a few specific times where my workout was absolutely kicking my butt and I wanted to quit, but Mondo wouldn’t let me give up. He was down in my face pushing me to finish. He never gave up on me and I decided that I couldn’t give up on me either. I didn’t quit, I kept going and I finished. There is no feeling like that when you complete a workout that you thought you would never get thru. The other women at Flow are such an inspiration to me, whether they are new to class or have been there, I always seem to find something in each of them that is an encouragement to me to push myself. There is a bond amongst all of us there that is like nothing I have ever had before. Flow isn’t like other gyms. At Flow it feels like you are amongst people that care from day one. We are there to encourage each other and to help one another get thru those tough times when we feel like giving up. I am so grateful that they talked me into trying the boot camp that first day back in November. Making that decision and sticking with it week after week has changed my life tremendously, and it has made possible what I thought had become impossible, to truly feel good about me.

Some people have a word or phrase that they use to help them get through trying situations. My phrase has always been “fake it ‘til you make it!” That phrase is especially true for my self-confidence. I have always struggled with being confident in the person I am, and that is especially true over the last few years. I had reached a point where that phrase wasn’t cutting it any more. I had to make a change. Fortunately for me, I found Flow Fitness and Cheri and Mondo at just the right time! After having a heart to heart with Cheri, she helped me realize that by joining Flow, I wasn’t just going to work on my appearance, but I was going to find the person inside of me that I had buried so long ago. That person that was just waiting for the right time to emerge. By going to boot camp, Zumba, TRX and private personal training sessions, the instructors push me to my limit every time and help me realize that I am a capable woman who can do anything she puts her mind to! The other members of Flow are supportive and inspiring, and I look to them to keep me motivated. Thanks to the efforts of Cheri and Mondo and the other instructors, I have become a much healthier person, both inside and out! I’ll never be able to say thank you enough for all that Flow has given me, but rest assured, I am a Flow Fitness fan for life!
“I have never felt more alive” was my response after leaving the studio. I know most women have found themselves complacent in their day to day routines and wish, at the end of the day, they would just have enough left to bring back the passion within that they once knew. We were created to be sensual beings but sometimes we just don’t know how to draw out that “inner diva” that has put on sweatpants and crawled on the couch. I was invited by a friend to come and try the Intro to Pole Workshop and will honestly say that I walked out of that class more alive than I have felt in a long time. I knew pole dancing was the new trend in fitness and, after losing my desire to go to the gym and do my same old workout, I accepted the invitation and had one of the best experiences of my life. Just having a positive attitude is all it takes. The studio is beautiful and the instructors are amazing. You don’t need stilettos, a special outfit or the cosmopolitan curves. The classes are made up of women of all ages and all fitness levels. The class sizes are kept small and the instructors are very supportive and encouraging. I have just completed the level one pole dancing series and feel that the combination of music with challenging moves we were taught have been a transition of grace, strength and control that I never knew was inside me. The quality of instruction sets this studio apart from others but, for me, I also feel it is loving spirit, professionalism and sense of fun that makes me love Flow Fitness. On a personal note, I have really enjoyed spending time with other amazing women on their own personal journeys. As a woman who has consistently exercised 4 -5 days a week, Flow Fitness has the most motivating-friendly-fun atmosphere I have ever experienced while working out. In every class I have taken, from bootcamp/self defense to yoga, from pole to jazz hiphop, the instructors have been top notch and work hard to insure your experience fits your needs. When my family, most importantly my husband, commented on my new found confidence and my improved posture, I knew Flow fitness was making a very positive difference in my life. Oh my Goodness!!!! I can't even begin to put into words what Flow Fitness means to me. I have gone to several other gyms and worked out with numerous personal trainers and none of them can even begin to hold a candle to the ladies of Flow Fitness. It is not just a place to workout (meat market) like some of the gyms I have been to. At Flow Fitness, you are taught how to not only workout, but to love the person you are now, while you are becoming the person that you want to be. Cheri, Courtney, and all of the ladies of Flow are here not only to help you be more fit (mentally, physically, and emotionally), but they also cheer you on while you're doing it. I was hesitant about taking a pole class because I am a bit shy when it comes to trying to be sexy and feeling sexy in front of anyone but I had heard the workout was great and I really wanted to do something different and for ME. The pole series has really helped my workout, my attitude and I feel more confident in simply feeling like a woman, which is a big deal being single in my 40s. Cheri and Stephanie are great for making you feel comfortable and really help you with the moves. The 6 classes in the series really allows you the opportunity to learn the moves so you don't feel like you're not going to get it. The other women in the class were great and I found out that most of them felt a lot like me but decided to take a chance too. I plan to continue to take the class as long as I can, it truly becomes addicting when you start to feel good about how you look and feel. This is 1 of the few workouts that I absolutely look forward to every week! I plan to host a girls night or 2 and get my girl friends to see how much fun the class really is. Rhonda Sowards
I have never had so much fun exercising, and I've never looked forward to the next time-until now! I love the variety of "alternative" classes offered, and the smaller class size makes the atmosphere so much more personal and friendly (and yes, we've all made new friends). I'm not a dancer, and Marie's teaching style still makes Zumba the highlight of my week. Her classes are hard work, but I laugh as I sweat. I never imagined taking Pole Fitness, but I can't rave about it enough-every woman, regardless of age, should try it! Belly Dancing is also fun, and I can't wait to try the rest of the classes. I just want to say that Flow Fitness is not just for parties, and single young ladies. It's not just about meeting new friends, which I have. Too me it's about getting to where I want to be. I started at Flow 8 weeks before the Christmas holiday and in that time I lost 8 pounds and several inches. I also was given a routine to follow over the holiday to help me maintain my loss, and I'm proud to say that I did. The most important thing I lost is my lack of motivation. The instructors have given me the time and instruction to realize that I can do this. I feel like I matter instead of just being another person in the room. I am now motivated to come and work out, not because of looking forward to exercising because let's face it, a good work out is hard. It's because of the results from getting myself in there, and isn't that what we all want. I also really like the fact that I have lots of choices of workouts and not just the same old thing every time. It's fun to see what the next challenge will be for my body, and seeing that I can do it as long as I keep trying. So come join me on my journey, come and get your Flow on!!! Shannon
